To all registered participants and our many volunteers:
We will make every attempt to hold Saturday’s Third Annual Learn to Row and Paddle Day while constantly monitoring what is actually happening with the weather. If there is thunder and lightning in the area, we will not put people on the river, and if they are on the river when a thunderstorm is imminent in the area, we will get all boats off the water and into shelter as soon as possible.
With rowing and paddling you have to take things as you find them. These days weather forecasting is getting more and more sophisticated, but it is by no means infallible. Whatever the conditions, rest assured that safety is foremost in our minds. We will not put anybody, participant or volunteer, into jeopardy.
If the weather prevents us from being on the river, we have some indoor rowing machines available in Lloyd Hall where Row Zone is scheduled to instruct. The Healthy Lifestyles Expo will be available to visit and Cosmic Cafe would be delighted to serve you some great organic food. And as a contingency we are going to ask some of our participating clubs along Boathouse Row to organize on-site rowing machine instruction and boathouse tours instead of instruction on the water.
